Horley show superiority over Uckfield

Horley Town 13-0 Uckfield Town Youth

Mid-Sussex YML Under 18 - Sunday 18th September 2011

Both teams started evenly, but before too long Horley were showing their superiority. Both Denis Costigan and Aidan Hogan upfront had shots blazed wide and over. Lets of neat passing down the left between Stu Burbidge and Els Roberts gave Horley a number of corners all of which troubled Uckfield but Horley struggled to convert.

On 16 minutes a lovely through ball from Alex Taylor in midfield cut the Uckfield defence apart putting Els Roberts clear and he broke the deadlock with a deft knock with his left into the bottom right corner. Roberts followed up 3 minutes later by finishing with his right following a scramble in box to make it two nil.

Well deserved win

Horley Town v Furngate Youth

Sunday 29th January 2012

Horley Town lost this fixture the last time these two teams met by just a goal and it was a very tight game again this time round.  From kick-off, it was end to end action with some good passing between the boys.  Just before half time, Toby Giraldo, having just returned to the team after recovering from a broken arm,  unleashed a brilliant shot which hit the crossbar and rebounded back to Harvey Banner who then scored.

The second half saw some good chances on goal from the boys but equally Joseph Marshall had to be strong in defence.  With Furngate piling on the pressure, Horley did have to defend with all their players.  In the last few minutes of the game, they seemed to lose their formation which led to Furngate having some good shots on goal. Charlie Whiteside saved the day with 2 great saves in the last minute of the game.
