The clubs junior section is currently going through an era of change, current U7s manager David Coogan kindly volunteered to take charge and lead the Junior section of this fantastic club. In a statement given earlier today David had this to say "Its a pleasure to be here and I am looking forward to the challenge of overseeing the Juniors, its a fantastic club in a great little town. The Juniors are the future of the club and we need to ensure there are systems in place to allow natural progression from the current U7s right through to the first team. One day the junior kids will be playing on our hallowed turf"
The club wish David and the Juniors luck with the changes. Exciting times ahead for all. We will keep you all posted on their progress throughout the season.
The newly established youth teams (U18s) recent pre-season friendly away to East Grinstead was one that the lads can be proud of. A battling performance saw Horley come away with a well deserved 2-0 win, a scoreline that should have been much more. Goals scorers taking the plaudits were Anthony and Callum, the latter having the pick of the day with an absolute screamer from 35 yards which wouldnt look out of place in a world cup match. Question is though, can you better it Callum? Well done lads on a great victory, look forward to more of that in the coming weeks. The hard work and effort in training is obviously paying dividends.
The 1st and Reserve teams saw themselves playing away against Redhill at Coulsdon College's grounds in this weekends friendlies. Both Horley teams were obviously looking to impress as the players compete for starting places with the season fast approaching. This was very evident with both teams outlining their purpose and intent with both dishing out comprehensive victories, 1st team running out 6-1 winners with 2 goals a piece for Richard Wetton and Ashley Nadesan and 1 each for Adam Pullin and Ben Hardman. The reserves ran out 3-1 winners with a goal each from Terry Regan, Nathan Jupp and Joe Nevin. Fantastic victories, well done to both teams. The Horley Flag is surely flying high. With these wins, the other teams should surely take note.
