U10a Progress to Knock-out Cup Semi Final Stage
7-a-side Juniors and Mini-soccer
Maidenbower Colts Blue - 1 v Horley Town U10a - 3

On an extremely wet pitch, Horley U10a played in the Knock-Out Cup Quarter Final against a Maidenbower Blues side they had lost 3-1 to earlier in the season.

Horley got into their passing game quickly and bossed this game from the off. Constable proved too tricky on a number of occasions down the left and got a well deserved 1st goal after 5 minutes.

Driscoll and Fiech had good attempts well saved by the Maidenbower keeper. Hines played the perfect anchor role in midfield, constantly breaking down Maidenbower's play.

O'Driscoll had little to do in goal for the 1st half with Elliott and Ashby snuffing out the few opportunities Maidenbower had.

Constable grabbed his and Horley's second after a typically skillfull run ending with a low hard left foot shot giving the keeper no chance.

The second half saw the introduction of top scorer King & the in-form Remfry from the bench and O'Driscoll replaced in goal by Driscoll. Horley started the 2nd half as they finished the 1st, dominating the play and playing some good passing football.

5 minutes in Horley went 3 - 0 up with O'Driscoll cooly slotting home. King and Remfry both had chances to put the game well out of sight.

Two more substitutions 5 minutes from time saw the re-introduction of Hines and Fiech for the ever dependable Elliott and Man-of-the-Match Constable.

A rare Maidenbower attack brought a fantastic save from Driscoll in the Horley goal - one of many we have seen this season, but a defensive lapse 3 minutes from time saw Maidenbower grab a consolation - Jobbins heading home from point-blank range after Power had been given far too much time to pick out the perfect cross.

A very well deserved win on a cold wet day and water-logged pitch.
