Our first home game of 2010 saw us draw with Guildford City Football Club at the New Defence
After drawing away one one with Guildford City Town were hoping for a good performence against a team one place above them in the League.
The last first team game was some five weeks ago and it showed in the first half.
Manager Ali Rennie has been busey during the lay of with a number of new signings.New goal keeper Dean Culpit from Croydon started the game alongside Luke Jones a foward from Dorking and a welcome return to JJ Sulivan was on the bench.

Match report
Horley started slowly with most of the early play with Guildford City. Town first chance fell to Luke Reggetti from a free kick which the City goal keeper saved. City came back at Horley and the defence was put under a lot of pressure with Danny Medhurst clearing the ball several times. Before a good move involving Mickey Norris and Adam Pullen saw Horley having a good chance to score. With thirty minutes played Guildford City took the lead after a well taken free kick was planted into the box and City scored into the bottom corner. Next Horley picked up their first boking.With seven minutes left some good work from new signing Juke Jones saw him play the ball through to Michael Death who beat the defender turned and shot, but the shot was deflected wide for a corner by Luke Reggetti which was cleared at the second attempt by Guildford. Horley went in at half time losing one nil. The second half saw Town looking to play football and work harder. With four minutes played Michael Death had a shot which the keeper had to dive to his right to save. A few minutes skipper Danny Guscott got taken out in the box but the referee waved play on and the ball broke up field and the Guildford City number four picked up a booking. With thirty left Adam Pullen beat the offside trap and the City number four brought him down and he was red carded. With twenty four played JJ O’Sullivan came on. With twenty four left JJ O’Sullivan marked his welcome return from South Park with a great goal to put Town back into the game. With twenty minutes Dean Culpit pulled of a great save tipping the ball over the cross bar one handed. With eighteen left Michael eat had a great shot which the keeper could only palm round the post and Luke Ragetti took the corner and Danny Guscott got up well with a strong header which the keeper saved. Luke Jones was then replaced up front and Horley continued to push foward.Mickey Norris then had a long range shot go just wide. Danny Guscott then got booked after the Guildford bench kept complaining. With nine left Adam Pullen had a shot go just wide before he went down with cramp. In the last minute Chris Weller replaced Adam Pullen after he had already gone for a shower. He raced onto the pitch to play up front and the referee blew his whistle to give Town their first point of 2010. |
