Croydon 1 Horley Town 1 Town visited the coldest place on the planet on Wednesday night Ex Ryman league Side Croydon Football Club. With ten first team players unavailable or missing Town put up ab rave display especially inn the second half. With the freezing wind blowing across the pitch it was
difficult for both side to play football. Horley were put under a lot of early pressure byt Lee Butcher in Midfield and Tom Windsor and Scott Manning held firm. It was Town who had the first chance of the game after six minutes with a snap shot from Adam Pullen. With fifteen played Adam put in a good cross and in a goal mouth scramble with luke Jones.Croydon now pilled on the pressure and a slip at the back let Croydon in but Stewart Devlin in the Horley goal saved well. This was followed by tow more chances which saw the Croydon foward blast high and wide twice. In the nineteenth minute another slip at the back saw Croydon score with the ball going under Stewart Devlin and into the net to put Croydon one nil up.With ten minutes left left Horley skipper Danny guscott did a great covering tackle to keep town in the game. With seven left JJ O;Sullivan went in the referee book. Croydon then picked up a booking for the defender as he kicked the ball away.In the closing minute of the half Luke Jones broke through the centre with a one on one with the home keeper who just beat him to the ball and kicked it straight at him with the ball bouncing out for a goal kick.Horley went in at hjalf time still one nil down.In the second half with only three minutes on the clock JJ broke into the box and teh home keeper was forced to make a double handed save. Two minutes later and Croydon broke through the centre and shot but the ball hit the cross bar and bounced to safty.A minute later Horley came back at Croydon when Adam Pullen crossed to Luke Jones whose shot went just wide of the upright. With twenty four left and double subsitution saw Michael Daeath and Luke Jones replaced with luke Ragetti and Charlie Smith, with JJ going up front and Luke Ragetti dropping in behind him. With sixteen left a great Horley move saw Adam Pullen play a perfect ball to Luke Ragetti who controlled the ball beutifully looked up broke into the box and placed his shot hard and true into the bottom of the corner of the Croydon net giving the home keeper no chance much to the delight of the freezing Horley Town supporters. This was followed by Croydon picking up a second booking. With three minutes left JJ put Smith in but his shot went high ovr the cross bar. With so many first team players missing and a much better second half performence a point away from home on the night was a good point for Town.
