Goalkeeper James Wastel scores a goal!Town travelled to second from top North Greenford Football Club in the League on a freezing night in North London without eight first team players who were unavailable or injured plus Chris Weller who was suspended. Goalkeeper James Wastell made a welcome return between the sticks as he was cup tied and could not play for Chipstead. In the first minute Nathan Jupp playing up front for Town went close with a good header. With eleven minutes played North Greenford first attack saw them score into the bottom corner of the net. Two minutes later they again broke free but this time shot high and wide of the cross bar. With twenty played Greenford broke on the edge of the box and lobbed goal keeper James Wastell to make it two nil to North Greenford.Horley weathered the storm and came back fighting after a good run by Gille he beat two defenders and passed to Adam Pullen whose shot was well saved by the home keeper. With only three minutes of the half left a bad back pass saw North Greenford break through the centre beat James Wastell but skipper Danny Guscott was on hand to clear on the line but as the ball went out North Greenford scored number three from outside of the area. In the last minute a good corner from Michael Death found Gillie but his shot was saved by the keeper again. In the last minute of the half Nathan Jupp beat the defender before trying to lob the keeper but his shot went just over the cross bar. Horley went in at half time with the score three nil to North Greenford. Horley went straight on the attack in the second half and a Michael Death corner saw both Nathan Jupp and Adam Pullen have shot cleared on the line before the home keeper went down injured. For the third time in the game the referee gave a drop ball to the goal keeper with Nathan standing near the ball so Greenford brought all there players round the goal keeper and then Nathan Jupp just walked off! Michael Death then went close going for the ball with the keeper. With twelve played Adam Pullen crossed for Nathan Jupp but again the home keeper saved. With fifteen played Luke Ragetti and Jamie Risebrow replaced Michael Death and Nathan Jupp.Greenford then went on the attack but James Wastell pulled of a good diving save to his left. It was then all Horley with Luke Regetti and Adam Pullen having good shots saved. Next Luke Regetti took a great corner and Adam Pullen got on the end of it but just not enough to put it in the net. With twenty left Horley were down to ten men. Town were forced to put phsio Dave Roffey in goal and goal keeper James Wastell up front much to the delight of the travelling Horley Town supporters. It was then all Horley with North Greenford looking a very worried side. With the home support winding Dave Roffey up he pulled of the save of the night to keep them quiet. Play switched to the other end and a Luke Regetti corner found James Wastell in the box and his header went just wide of the upright. With twelve left a cross from the left found James Wastell who powered his header into the back of the net to make the fairy tale come true. With seven minute left James Wastell broke into the box and shot and the keeper just saved it at the second attempt. With five left John Eldred crossed and Adam Pullen shot was well saved again.Horley continued to push forward but they could not add to the score so another chapter in the history of Horley Town football Club was written. |
