Horley disappointed with point
Sat Aug 4, 2012 @ Youngs Drive
Ash United 0 - 0 Horley Town
Horley began their season with a 0-0 draw away to Ash United. Horley were missing the holidaying Anthony Jupp and Adam Pullin. They did however include new signings Danny Guscott, Matt Ward, Martin Harris and Dave Brown starting, with Steve Major among the subs.
Horley started brightly and Dave Brown was denied with a sharp save from John Brawley in goal for the hosts. Neither side were creating much but as the half wore on a good cross from debutant Martin Harris was played back across goal but Michael Constable’s header just cleared the bar.
In the second half, Horley started to get on top and a great pass from John Eldred put Michael Constable clear. The young striker shot narrowly wide of the post, however.
As the game came to a close, a fierce strike from Matt Ward was beaten away by Brawley in the Ash goal. The ball came quickly to Ben Herdman and his shot struck the Ash keeper and bounced to safety.
Horley will be disappointed with a point as they had the better chances but failed to capitalise.
