We saw goal of the season tonight ...

Thursday 18th October 2012

Horley confirmed their superiority over local rivals Oakwood with their second victory in so many weeks.

Having beaten Oakwood 5-1 at the New Defence, Horley were expecting to be able to win tonight's return fixture at Tinsley Lane.

Horley started brightly and early pressure saw the ball break back to Adam Lay on the right wing, who delivered a first time cross which beat the keeper and allowed Ashley Nadesan to bundle the ball over the line from 6 yds.

But Horley had their heads up and pushed forward again giving Dean O'Keefe the opportunity to sweep in the second goal. 0-2 up after less than 5 minutes. Surely this was going to be awalk in the park?

Oakwood had different ideas and managed to break down the left to the byeline and cut the ball back to penalty spot where No 9 smashed it sat Bailey in the Horley goal.

Horley tried to settle things down, playing some good football, but lacked penetration. After 15 minutes, Hogan came deep to pick up the ball and, with the space to turn he ran at the defence. Nadesan made a sharp left to right break and Hogan slotted a through ball into his path allowing him to clip it past the keeper for 1-3.

Thats how the first half finished. But Horley seemed renewed when they came out for thesecond half.

Hogan broke down the left, beat his marker and cutacross the bye line before crossing back towards te penalty spotwhere Nadesan was in top form and smashed a flying right foot flying volley past the defence for what will probably be goal of the season.

Lineup: Bailey T, Lay, Hollingshead, Bailey A, Brown, Swaby, Nadesen, Taylor, Hogan, O'Keefe

Subs: Holland, Burbidge, Rogers
